Connect your drone

Plug your phone into the remote controller, register once with DJI, and get ready to fly.

DroneXR talks to your drone through its remote controller (RC), exactly like DJI’s own app does. Your phone is plugged into the controller with a USB cable for the whole flight.

First start: registration

The first time you open DroneXR, it registers with DJI’s developer service. That needs an internet connection once; you’ll see Registering DJI SDK… on the main screen until it says DJI SDK registered. After that, DroneXR works offline.

When asked, allow DroneXR access to Bluetooth, the camera and your location. DJI’s SDK needs these permissions to find and fly your drone — if you deny one, DroneXR may not connect.

Connect

  1. Switch on the remote controller, then the drone.
  2. Close DJI Fly (or any other drone app) if it is running — only one app can talk to the controller at a time.
  3. Connect your phone to the controller’s USB port with the cable.
  4. If Android asks which app should open for this USB device, choose DroneXR.
  5. On the main screen, DroneXR recognises your drone and shows Ready to fly.
  6. Tap Fly.
