Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
This policy covers the website dronexr.de and our apps DroneXR (Android and iOS) and DroneVR+ (Android). We collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no advertising and no analytics in our apps or on this website.
Who is responsible
Appologics UG (haftungsbeschränkt), grubsaruE 74528 ,a4 geW-hcabnettaT-farG, Germany (“we”). Contact for privacy questions: [email protected]. Further details are in our Impressum.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Write to us to exercise them. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for us, the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach.
The website
Hosting and server logs
The website runs on a server we rent from IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, located in Germany. When you open a page, the server records technical access data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser’s user agent. We need this to deliver the site and to keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are deleted after 14 days. We have a data processing agreement with the hosting provider.
No cookies, no tracking
The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Fonts, images and videos are served from our own server; no content is loaded from third parties. Links to other sites — such as Google Play, the App Store or YouTube — only take effect when you click them; from then on, that site’s privacy policy applies.
The website remembers which platform tab (Android or iOS) you last chose in a guide, in your browser’s local storage. This stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
Contact form and email
When you write to us via the contact form or by email, we process the details you give us — name, email address, message and, if you provide them, your drone and phone model — to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for questions about our apps, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Form messages are sent through the email delivery service SMTP2GO (SMTP2GO Limited, New Zealand); New Zealand has an EU adequacy decision. Form messages and emails to [email protected] are then forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) to our mailbox at Google (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Transfers to the USA are based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or, where it does not apply, on the EU standard contractual clauses. We delete messages once your request is resolved, unless statutory retention periods apply.
DroneXR for Android
Location
DroneXR uses your phone’s and your drone’s location to show the home point, the minimap and the distance to home, and to record flight logs. Location is processed on your phone.
Minimap tiles. To draw the minimap and the flight-log map, DroneXR downloads satellite map tiles from Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc., 380 New York Street, Redlands, CA 92373, USA). Esri receives your phone’s IP address and which map area is requested — which reveals the approximate area you are flying in. No other data is sent. We do this to show you the map (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The transfer to the USA is based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or, where it does not apply, on the EU standard contractual clauses. See Esri’s privacy statement.
Flight logs
Flight logs — positions, altitude, speed, signal, battery and drone events — are stored only on your phone. They leave it only when you export or share a flight yourself.
DJI SDK
DroneXR uses DJI’s Mobile SDK to connect to and control your drone. On first start, the SDK registers with DJI’s servers; DJI requires this for every app built on its SDK. For this, DJI’s privacy policy applies: dji.com/policy. The Bluetooth, camera and location permissions DroneXR asks for are required by DJI’s SDK.
Crash reports and performance diagnostics
DroneXR uses Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring (Google Ireland Ltd.) to learn about crashes and slow screens. A crash report contains technical information about your device, the app version and the state of the app when it crashed. It contains no location data, no home point, no drone serial number and no identifier of you. Firebase Analytics is not used. This is on by default (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — app stability is safety-relevant when flying); you can switch it off at any time under Settings → Share Diagnostics. See Google’s privacy policy.
Purchases
Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. DroneXR only learns whether you have unlocked the app; we never receive your payment details.
Instant Share
When you share a still or a clip, DroneXR hands the image or video and its caption to the app you choose (for example TikTok, Instagram or Facebook). The default caption can include the name of the place you flew; you can edit it before sharing. What happens next is governed by that app’s privacy policy. Drafts stay on your phone until you delete them.
DroneXR for iOS
- Location — used to show the home point and record flight telemetry, processed on your device.
- DJI SDK — as for Android, above.
- Camera — to scan headset QR codes and to switch to the phone’s camera view; processed on-device only, nothing is stored or transmitted.
- Microphone and voice control — optional voice commands use Apple’s Speech framework. Unless you enable offline voice control, audio may be sent to Apple for recognition. See Apple’s privacy policy.
- Photo library and local network — to save photos and videos to your library, and to connect phones in viewer mode on your local Wi‑Fi. Nothing is sent to us.
- Crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics, without Firebase Analytics.
- Purchases — processed entirely by the App Store.
DroneVR+ for Android
DroneVR+ uses location for the home point and the on-device flight log; DJI’s SDK as described above; Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports, without Firebase Analytics; and Google Play for purchases.
What we do not do
None of our apps has an account or sign-in, shows advertising, or sells or shares your data for advertising. Settings, flight logs and purchase status are stored on your device and removed when you uninstall the app.
Children
Our apps are intended for adult drone pilots and are not directed at children.
Changes
We update this policy when our apps or this website change, and change the date above when we do.
